Frequently Asked Questions
What made you interested in art?
That story goes back to childhood, where performing was my passion. I acted/sang at professional theaters around the twin cities and went to a performing arts school. When it was time to go to college, I auditioned in classical voice programs. But at this time in my life, the genetic condition I was born with, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, stepped in center stage. Ehlers Danlos, or EDS, is a genetic disorder meaning a mutation of the genes, in my case, the genes that create collagen and connective tissue in my body. As a kid, my flexibility was a positive thing, never getting in the way of things I wanted to do. But around age 16, pain and dislocations started holding me back from things I loved. I sadly decided not to go to the Vocal program I was admitted too, and had many difficult and painful years in front of me.
I was not going to give up artistic expression in my life, no matter what it looked like. So i began experimenting with colors and painting. It was something I could do in moderation and it got my feelings out.
10 years later and I’ve got my Associates degree of fine art and am pursuing a Bachelors, then on to my art therapy certification!
2.Do you do commissions?
Yes! I love diving into the ideas of others and making it a reality. Commission are a great way for me to support my art making while I am still a student. Don’t hesitate to contact me to talk about your ideas, budget, etc.
