The Anatomy of Pain
I usually like to leave paintings open to be interpreted by the viewer, but this one came from a specific need for others to understand the complexity of the medical problems I deal with. Each canvas focuses on a specific set of symptoms/problems, the first on the left being about the pain I get specific to the nervous system or nerve pain. The middle canvas was meant to convey how it feels when none of my ribs sit in the right place, and just existing in the world not knowing where my body is in space. The last canvas focuses on the muscles, the majority of my pain, my muscles being so weak they are constantly cramping, just to hold my body together.
Everyone who has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome experiences different symptoms, so never assume others with EDS deal with all the same things! :)
